4. Development
The development phase is to finalize the design, implement it, and validate it with intended users. The key design activity is transformation of the conceptual design, validated through conceptual prototypes, into a concrete and fully detailed design, including final prototypes. This is the level of design that is communicated to the team. The goal of conceptual design is a complete solution to all aspects of the desired requirements. While the design team leads these activities, the entire project team participates in decisions that lead to a final design solution on the project. Throughout implementation the team assesses solutions, provides clarification, and directs corrections. During formal testing, the design team helps keep the project on target. All members of the team participate, at least as observers, in validation of the design. Key members of the project team should feel the design meets criteria. This phase concludes with the successful completion of all tests against both business goals and criteria. opportunity | understanding | design |
